Down With The Sickness (2000) Disturbed.

by xusia @ 04/10/2008 - 09:08:49

"Down with the Sickness" is a song by American rock band "Disturbed". The song featured on their 2000 debut album, The Sickness. The song has become one of the bands best-known works and is their only single to have gone Gold in the US. It has also been used in numerous films such as "The One" and "Queen Of The Damned".

The song was covered in 2002 by "Richard Cheese & Lounge Against The Machine" on their album Tuxicity. The song is reinterpreted from a metal anthem to a swing number. Both versions of the song appeared in Zack Snyders 2004 remake of "Dawn Of The Dead". Richard Cheese's cover is presented below, but unfortunately there is no accompanying video. I chose this version as it had the best audio available.

Cover versions often suffer from "Marmite Syndrome" and you seldom find versions of songs that are sufficiently different from the original. I'm sure we can all think of several examples like this. Richard Cheese has certainly not fallen into this trap and has approached the material in an innovative fashion.

Enjoy.

Christ on a bike, talk about a Rage Against The Machine rip-off! They should be ashamed of themselves. The cover is certainly different, and is very much in Mike Flowers territory.

Here's a lovely cover for you:
